Fruit Cobbler ("1" recipe)

 

Family recipe from one of my aunts. It is called the "the 1 recipe" because all the measurements are just one of that thing and it is easy to memorize. Enjoy!

Fruit Cobbler ("1" recipe)

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

1 cup sugar 

1 tsp baking powder

1 generous pinch salt

1 stick butter, melted

1 egg

1 jar fruit, drained OR 1.5 cup fresh fruit, chopped + 1 Tbs. corn starch

cinnamon, for dusting (optional)

vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350F. 

2. In a 8"x8" baking dish, place layer of fruit at the bottom. Sprinkle over corn starch if using fresh fruit.

3. In a medium bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Combine well.

4. Add melted butter and whisked egg, and mix until just combined. It will be a paste-like consistency.

5. Spread batter evenly over the fruit layer. Sprinkle cinnamon on top, if using.

4. Bake for 1 hour (or 40 minutes if using convection fan).

Homemade Mop Bucket Solution

I ran out of the branded O-Cedar mop bucket pods, and as I have been trying to reduce my plastic use in my home (particularly disposable plastics) I leveraged Google AI to help me make this simple solution at home.


This formulation is for 6L, or 1.5 Gallons which is the max fill line on the O-Cedar EasyWring™ Spin Mop.


Homemade Mop Bucket Solution 


Ingredients:

1.5 Gallon warm water

1 cup white vinegar

1 Tbs. mild dish soap 

15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)


Optional - Faster drying for tile or laminate flooring:

1/4 cup. rubbing or isopropyl alcohol (do NOT use on wood flooring)


Instructions:

1. Combine all ingredients in mop bucket - mix well and use to mop floors.

Cake for Dogs

My oldest baby's 7th birthday was this past weekend, and with my 2 new pups I wanted to do something special to celebrate. I found this dog cake recipe, and it was a hit.

I recommend frosting each piece as you are serving for easier storage.

Cake for Dogs

cake batter:

1 c. flour

1/2 tsp  baking soda

2 Tbs. vegetable oil

1/4 c. peanut butter (dog safe - no Xylitol)

1/2 c. plain apple sauce

1/2 c. pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling)

1 egg


frosting:

1/4 cup peanut butter 

1/2 cup plain yogurt


Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350F.

2. In a bowl, combine all wet ingredients cake ingredients and mix well (vegetable oil, peanut butter, apple sauce, pumpkin puree, and egg).

3. Sift in flour and baking soda, and mix until just combined. Pour batter into an oiled 9”x9" baking dish, or 9" round cake tin.

4. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

5. Let cale cool, then frost and serve!
